I also collect old electronic games; today I found a handheld console from 1979 at Zeitzeug.
The game was manufactured by the American company Entex Industries. The company initially produced building block sets and later switched to manufacturing LCD and LED games (such as this one).
The rules of the game are quite simple: there are two players, one of whom has the ball at any given time. A round ends as soon as a player loses the ball or scores a goal. The LED of the player in possession of the ball is brighter. The player’s position can be controlled using the arrow keys. The defending player has an additional player on the halfway line, who cannot be controlled but simply moves up and down. As soon as one of the defending players reaches the position of the player in possession of the ball, the round ends and the defender becomes the attacker. When a player is in front of the goal, they can press the ‘Kick’ button. Right in front of the goal, every shot is a goal, but the further away they are, the lower the chance of scoring. If the player scores, the console emits a sound, the LEDs in the goal flash three times and the score on the side increases.
The game can also be found in various collections:
There is also a video on YouTube showing the restoration of a console:
