I bought a Woodblock print by Erich Buchwald-Zinnwald (in German) (1884-1972) (at artnet)…
Erich Buchwald-Zinnwald (1884–1972) was a landscape painter and graphic artist, best known for his colour woodcuts of the Eastern Ore Mountains. Out of a sense of attachment to this region, he also adopted the surname “Zinnwald”. He was born in Dresden and moved to West Germany in 1968; from then on, he was regarded in the former GDR as a “ Republikflüchtling” (refugee from the Republic).
The title of the print is “Dresden um 1900” (Dresden around 1900); it dates from 1952 and is inscribed with “Original woodcut” and the signature “E. Buchwald Zinnwald”. A similar woodcut by Buchwald-Zinnwald is listed at MutualArt.
